True predator of the Human kind

Nature's solution to keep its worst creation in check.4 min read

Curse of the Creator

We humans as a species think we are above nature, in someways terrifyingly we are. But we are a creation of nature that i am sure nature itself regrets creating. Nature has this nasty habit of balancing out strengths and weakness of each of its creation, no creation is exempt from this rule.

The Great White Shark is one of the largest predators in the ocean, its strengths are well know, let it be its bite force or the eerie blood smelling ability but nature with all its broken humor cursed this embodiment of raw power with gills, an organ which will kill the majestic beast if water stops passing through it. For this reason Achilles’s foot is one of my favorite saying and i am sure its nature’s favorite too.

If one were to ask what is the curse nature has put upon its magnum opus (humans) you might get different answers based on who you ask the question to. A biologist might say its cancer but if one was to ask me the question my answer would be

The constant and never ending search for answers.

Divided on Principle

What separates us from other life forms we share this beautiful earth with is conscious thought. This is the part of our inner working that let’s us question about anything and everything. The curse is the fact that we humans try our very best to answer these questions at any cost may it be.

All of our collective goal in this world is to find answers to our questions or to the questions of our past and if we have answers, we pass it down as knowledge so the next generation can find answers for a different one. This fact is very apparent if one were to examine our history as a species. We have asked questions after questions, found answers for some but we had to create our own answers for a few.

One of these questions is something we all have pondered upon on the least once in our life, What is the purpose of this life? this question is terrifying for us humans because there is no one answer we can all agree upon, there is no experiment we can perform to come to an conclusion. So some of us create our own answers, while others believe one of these answers is the right one thus forming groups between ourselves. We divide ourselves on what we believe is the answer to the question, wait there is a better word to describe this phenomenon - Religion However smart we evolved apes think we are, one must not forget from whom we inherited this curse masked as the ability to think from. Nature loves balance, the concept of temperature exists because everything wants to get to an equilibrium. The game of predator vs prey exists for this same reason. There is a natural predator for each species in nature to keep one and another in check and to prevent one species from over populating this shared abode.

We humans are so naive we thought we cheated nature, that we had no predator. But in a twisted sense the predator of humans are well humans themselves. Look at our history that has been written for most parts in blood. Violence has always been the answer to disputes. Disputes that raise from different answers to a question. These questions include but not limited to Who owns this land? War, Who is the king? War or the one question that has taken more lives throughout history and continues to do so,

Who is the one true god?

True Predator

Nothing separates us humans deeper than this age old question of figuring out under which higher power we all live under and to what we will go to when we die. This makes sense because if gives us something to hope for, some code to live by. One of my all time favorite film Kingdom of Heaven captures this idea of killing to keep one’s belief over others. That killing is friends our true predator. One should not assume i am stating that all violence roots from religion but rather my statement is that

“Humans will kill their own kind if they both have different answers to the same question”.

This statement is more relevant then ever. In today’s modern world we are all divided on the matter of the society and its questions, modern politics basically function on this very principle. Your answer to “Are abortions legal?” or “Is nuclear energy safe?“ defines what micro-group of people you belong in and who you are against.

Today’s social media platforms exploit this flaw of the human kind to keep as hooked to platforms by showing us content to hate on the ones whose perspective is different from ours so that they can run targeted advertisements.

Epilogue

Nature’s predator to the human kind is none other than themselves, here the predator takes not the form of a beast but that of a belief, belief on answers to questions. To kill this predator is to stop finding answers to questions or accept and respect answers apart from the ones you believe in.
